Twin-turbo V8-powered Cayenne GTS gains chassis tweaks from Turbo GT.

Following on from the Porsche Cayenne's update towards the end of 2023, the German firm has introduced a new Cayenne GTS to the line-up. The GTS is a more driver-focused version of the company's big-selling SUV, and it has been given a range of revisions to help keep it competitive against cars such as the Lamborghini Urus and Range Rover Sport SVR.

Sportier looks

The GTS is available in SUV and ‘Coupe’ body styles, and the trim level adds a unique look. As before there's black GTS lettering on the back and sides, while dark-tinted matrix LED headlights and larger air intakes are added. Also standard are red brake calipers, and the Sport Design package is fitted, adding a chunkier gloss-black body kit when compared with the standard Cayenne. At the rear, there are dark-tinted LED lights, while the previous GTS's black exhaust tips are now finished in dark bronze. The exterior look is finished with a set of 21-inch RS Spyder-design wheels in anthracite grey.

Inside, the GTS's roof lining, armrests, door panels, heated steering wheel and the centre sections of the seats are finished in Race-Tex suede, while the seats themselves have raised side bolsters for additional support. As with the standard Cayenne, the GTS features a new dashboard layout with digital screens similar to those first seen on the Taycan EV, while a Bose surround sound system and bespoke LED cabin lighting is included. On top of this, the Cayenne Coupe comes with a panoramic glass roof and pop-up rear spoiler.

Also available for the Coupe are a trio of lightweight sports packages, which add items such as a sports exhaust with centre-exit tailpipes, a carbon-fibre roof and rear diffuser - and the option to remove some sound insulation. These packs can reduce the Cayenne GTS Coupe's weight by up to 25kg.

Turbo GT inspiration

Under the bonnet, the Cayenne GTS is powered by a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 that has been thoroughly overhauled. It now makes 500hp - a 40hp increase over the previous GTS - while maximum torque is quoted at 660Nm, which is up by 40Nm over the last model. As before, it's connected to an eight-speed Tiptronic S automatic transmission with four-wheel drive, while the shift times of the gearbox have been shortened in the car's Sport and Sport Plus driving modes. All these upgrades mean the 0-100km/h sprint takes 4.4 seconds, while there's a top speed of 275km/h.

To help keep the car's power in check, the GTS now features adaptive air suspension as standard with a 10mm lower ride height, while Porsche Active Suspension Management and Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus are fitted as standard. Two-valve dampers boost responsiveness, while the suspension features components from the Turbo GT that boost cornering and handling dynamics.

The new Cayenne GTS is on sale now.
