Windsor Nissan has teamed up with St John Ambulance to deliver medication and food to vulnerable members of the community, and to transport vital personal protective equipment (PPE) to hospitals and nursing homes during the ongoing coronavirus crisis and its ensuring lockdown.
Complimentary Qashqais
Windsor's strategy is to provide complimentary Nissan Qashqais to St John volunteers in the counties of Dublin, Cork, Limerick, Mayo and Cavan, to allow them to continue their work on the medical frontline.
St John Ambulance is working with An Garda Siochana, pharmacies and other local charities to identify where its support is needed most in local communities, and the efforts of its members have proven to be a lifeline to people who are isolating at home and are unable to go out to collect food and medication. It has also supported the work of the Health Service Executive (HSE) in Ireland and nursing homes in certain locations, with logistical tasks including the distribution and delivery of PPE.
'Helping to save lives'
The free Qashqais provided by Windsor should let the St John Ambulance continue its vital work and Dr Keith Kennedy, a spokesman for the organisation, said: "Our volunteers are active in their communities and working hard to identify those in need and to provide them with the support they require. These Nissan Qashqai cars will be put to use in a number of counties to reach as many people as possible."
Meanwhile, Peter Nicholson, managing director of the Windsor Group, said: "St John Ambulance is one of Ireland's great community organisations. Their work in delivering medications and food supplies to those who are unable to avail of any alternative solution is helping to save lives. We are delighted to support the organisation's dedicated volunteers and their tireless work to maintain a link with the most vulnerable in our society and as they continue to do whatever they can to provide logistical support to the HSE and nursing homes in other areas."
