New Toyota Yaris to cost from €19,695

Petrol Yaris model starts from less than 20 grand or €157pcm, hybrid model due in October, says Toyota.

Toyota Ireland has confirmed that the all-new Yaris will cost from €19,695 for a petrol model, which equates to €157 per calendar month (pcm) on PCP.

Loads of safety kit

Arriving in dealerships now, the new-generation Yaris comes as standard with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and it sits on the Toyota New Global Architecture (TNGA) chassis for compact cars. While the petrol models are available in Ireland at first, the self-charging 1.5 Hybrid Dynamic Force version of the Yaris should be available from late October.

The Yaris wears some of Toyota's much bolder corporate styling, which has come into force in recent years, and it is packed with Toyota Safety Sense gear as standard, including Lane Trace Assist, Emergency Steering Assist and Intersection Turn. Its Pre-Collision System has also been enhanced, so that is can detect pedestrians at day and night, and cyclists during the day, while centre airbags prevent the driver and front-seat passenger colliding in the event of a heavy side impact.

Available from the off are the Yaris models with the 1.0- and 1.5-litre petrol engines, delivering fuel economy as impressive as 5.6 litres/100km (50.4mpg) and low CO2 figures. The monthly PCP cost of €157pcm means that customers can upgrade from the old Mk3 Yaris Luna petrol to the new car, for just an extra €27pcm.

'Appeal to younger customers'

Steve Tormey, CEO of Toyota Ireland, said: "We're delighted to announce the launch of the new fourth-generation Yaris, with the petrol model arriving in Ireland now and the self-charging hybrid variant arriving later in the year. The Yaris has been a pinnacle of driving innovation since it was first launched in 1999. It has gone from strength to strength, not least in winning the WRC in 2018.

"Since its arrival in the Irish market in 2012, the Yaris hybrid has performed incredibly well and despite it being in its ninth year, it's still the best-selling car in its segment in 2020. The newest generation Yaris has the most efficient hybrid powertrain and is developed on the global TNGA platform. Following on from Akio Toyoda's 'No more boring cars' statement, this latest Yaris shows that with an energetic and dynamic design and the latest self-charging hybrid technology, this car will be perfect for customers with an eye for design and a desire to make sustainable choices.

"We're delighted to offer an affordable entry to the new-generation Yaris with our petrol model, which is extremely competitively priced with a fantastic PCP offering, which will appeal to our younger customers."
