Audi Q2 updates

Minor updates to Audi Q2 crossover for 2021.

Have you spotted it yet? Can you find it? Can you see, in these photos, where the updated Audi Q2 differs from the outgoing model? Give up? Well, in this little game of Where's Wally? the answer is the headlights. The Q2, Audi's current smallest crossover, has been given new headlights for its 2020 update.

LED lights and new colours

In fairness, those lights are now LED units as standard across the range, and if you pony up a bit of extra cash you can have the clever Matrix LED lights, which do all sorts of clever self-dipping and cornering things. Picking the Matrix lights also means that you get scrolling, animated, indicators front and rear.

If you're looking for styling differences, there are some, but they're dashed hard to spot. The big change is the front bumper, which Audi says is filled with new 'polygon' shapes, and the grille is a little lower-set than before. The Q2 also gets the 'Quattro nostril' fake vents on the leading edge of the bonnet. There are also new colours - Apple Green, Manhattan Grey, Navarra Blue, Arrow Grey, and Turbo Blue are new with the Q2.

Minor cabin changes

Inside, once again, it's magnifying glass time to spot the differences. Basically, the graphics for the MMI infotainment system and the optional Audi Virtual Cockpit digital instrument panel have been upgraded, there's a new gear shifter design, and new air vents. As before, if you tick the box for the ambient lighting package, the dashboard trim panels are actually back-lit, which is a nice effect.

The MMI system also gets some upgraded software which now includes better voice control, and which also has some connected and live internet functions, depending on what spec you choose. There are also some new driver aid packages, including a 'Park' pack which comes with a rear-view camera, and parking-assist steering. There's a 'Safety' pack that comes with side assist, rear cross-traffic assist, and the Audi pre sense basic and Audi pre sense rear systems, and a 'Drive' pack that includes lane-keeping steering and adaptive cruise control.

1.5 TFSI turbo petrol engine

The updated Q2 is being launched with a choice of three TFSI petrol and one TDI diesel engines, although early-build models will focus on the 150hp 1.5-litre petrol turbo TFSI engine. For those who really want the ultimate Q2, there will be an 'Edition One' launch model. It is painted in Apple Green or Arrow Grey, with an S line bumper with a grey contrasting paint finish and a large roof edge spoiler adding accents. Attachments such as the mirror caps and Audi rings are painted black. Matrix LED headlights, 19-inch wheels from Audi Sport, and sport suspension are also fitted.

Irish prices and models will be announced later in the year.
