Toyota Ireland has confirmed that its new seven-seat Highlander SUV will hit Irish dealerships in January, and will be priced from €63,995 (or €507 per month on a Toyota Finance package).
20-inch wheels standard
Standard equipment for the Highlander will include 20-inch alloy wheels, ventilated front seats, 11-speaker JBL audio and an eight-inch multimedia touchscreen featuring navigation and smartphone integration via Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
On the safety front, the Highlander will come with a full Toyota Safety Sense package, as well as a heads-up display, and, on some versions, a rear-view mirror that uses a digital camera.
Big boot
The Highlander will come with seven seats as standard too, as well as an electric tailgate which can be operated by a 'kick sensor' under the back bumper. It'll be practical inside - fold the third-row seats and you'll have a 631-litre boot, while that expands to 838 litres if you fold the middle row, too.
Hybrid power
Power comes from a 244hp 2.5-litre hybrid engine, with WLTP emissions from 140g/km, and fuel economy of 6.6 litres per 100km. Four-wheel drive (with the rear axle being powered by an electric motor, rather than using a heavy propshaft and transfer case) is standard. Toyota claims that the Highlander has: "a low centre of gravity, providing the new SUV with nimble handling and comfortable motorway cruising characteristics."
Commenting on the arrival of the all-new Highlander, Steve Tormey, Chief Executive of Toyota Ireland said: "The arrival of the Highlander 7-seater hybrid expands our range line-up and, along with the RAV4 and Toyota C-HR, cements our leadership in hybrid SUVs. Equipped with the latest connectivity and safety features, and with space to spare, this will appeal to customers with an active lifestyle and who like to get into the outdoors. Not only does it offer a truly comfortable ride and has premium features throughout, the Highlander also offers a unique combination of power and lower emissions thanks to the 4th generation hybrid powertrain. This is something more customers are moving towards, especially after the Government budget and the general move towards electrified driving options. We're delighted to be able to offer this to our customers, so that they can choose a model that contributes to cleaner air and a better environment for everyone."
