The staff of Volkswagen Group Ireland and Volkswagen Financial Services haven't let remote working get in the way of their charitable work. This year the Group is supporting the Alzheimer Society of Ireland as its chosen charity, and it recently hosted a virtual tea morning. The event included an online auction that helped to raise €7,500 including donations from employees. A cheque for €10,000 was also presented to the charity by Alan Bateson, Volkswagen Group Ireland Board member responsible for CSR.
Afterwards, Alan Bateson said: "We are thrilled to be working with the Alzheimer Society of Ireland as a charity partner, providing much needed care, respite, and information services for people living with dementia. All the team at Volkswagen Group Ireland and Volkswagen Financial Services Ireland are excited at the opportunity to raise vital funds whilst having a lot of fun for this fantastic charity, and this was evident at our virtual tea morning."
Volkswagen Group Ireland staff raise over €17,000
Ciara O'Reilly from the Alzheimer Society of Ireland said: "On behalf of The Alzheimer Society of Ireland, I would like to say a huge thank you to Volkswagen Group Ireland and Volkswagen Financial Services Ireland. The €17,500 the team worked so hard to raise through donations and in an online Alzheimer's Tea Day auction during very difficult times will be used to fund vital supports and services in the community and to ensure those living with dementia, along with their families, get the support they need. We are heavily reliant on donations to provide our services, so we are very grateful to everyone at Volkswagen Group Ireland and Volkswagen Financial Services Ireland for all of their support."
