Volkswagen Ireland has announced that it's sponsoring Dublin Pride for the month of June, which is also - not co-incidentally - Pride Month.
Silver level supporter
Volkswagen says that it's going to be a 'Silver Level' supporter of the festival that celebrates the Irish LGBTQI+ community. It's also going to provide logistical support by means of the 'Pride-Wagen' - a Volkswagen Transporter van wrapped in an appropriate rainbow-coloured scheme.
Online Pride Parade
As with last year, the big Pride Parade will be an online-only event (due to the Covid restrictions) so the van will be used more for community outreach programmes than for actually driving in a parade. However, Volkswagen Ireland says: "Volkswagen Ireland staff are looking forward to representing the brand during the broadcast, along with other co-branding elements such as the pop-up Pride Hub on Duke Street in Dublin 2."
Seminars on diversity
An integral part of the sponsorship will include the delivery of seminars from Dublin Pride to Volkswagen Ireland employees around the history of Pride both in Ireland and abroad plus how best to support LGBTQI+ colleagues in the workplace.
The partnership falls under the wider umbrella of one of Volkswagen's core principles - We Live Diversity - which recognises the importance and benefit of the company celebrating its diverse workplace.
