Chevrolet is showing off its new pick-up truck ideas with a concept called the Colorado Rally, which made its entrance at the Buenos Aires motor show.
While not destined for Ireland, Chevrolet pick-ups sell very well across the globe and the Colorado Rally's new 2.8-litre turbodiesel shows that this is a model aimed well beyond the USA's borders.
Designed with elements of off-road rally raid motorsport as inspiration, the Colorado Rally has racing shock absorbers and 140mm of suspension travel. The suspension can also be raised by a further 50mm for extreme terrain, while an integrated winch will pull the pick-up out of trouble.
Details we can expect to see in production Chevrolet models will include the integrated roll-over bar, roof rack and rear bumper that blends with the tailgate. The interior also takes its cues from rally raid racers and the seats are covered in a water-proof black neoprene with orange stitching.
Carlos Barba, GM South America Design Center director, said: "Colorado Rally exhibits Chevrolet's DNA in an off road version. To develop this vehicle we did an extensive research on the off- road Motorsport. Each and every detail was deeply studied in order to deliver maximum authenticity, designed with the rally raid category in mind, also known as cross country rallying."
