Monaco's streets will be treated to a more stately form of transport than the Formula One race when Prince Albert is married on 2 July. His transport for the special day will be a one-off Lexus LS 600h Landaulet limousine made for him by the Japanese luxury firm.
A one-piece polycarbonate roof made from aerospace grade materials allows the Prince to see and be seen as he travels to his wedding with Marlene Wittstock in Monte Carlo. The roof has been made by Carat Duchatelet, a specialist coachbuilder based in Belgium, with help from a French aerospace firm. It weighs in at 26kg and is 8mm thick.
It has taken the coachbuilder and Lexus more than 2,000 man hours to complete the Landaulet. It also has carbon fibre strengthening to account for the roof chop and also to provide armour plating security.
Prince Albert and his bride will tour Monaco in the car after the wedding ceremony. The car will then go on display at the Oceanographic Museum in Monaco.
