Nissan Ireland has revealed details of the pricing and model line-up for the Ariya electric crossover, which is due to arrive here shortly.
Choice of models
The Ariya will be sold in Ireland in two specs, Advance and Evolve, with two battery choices: a 63kWh pack delivering a claimed range of up to 403km and an 87kWh battery enabling the Ariya to go up to 532km between charges.
The entry-level model is the 63kWh Ariya Advance with prices from €48,995 inclusive of government grants with the €51,995 Evolve model with the same battery also inclusive of grants. Spec levels, even on lower rung models, are relatively high with a raft of features as standard including wireless Apple CarPlay, cabled Android Auto, wireless phone charging and a pair of 12.3-inch screens serving as the driver's information cluster and a central infotainment touchscreen and navigation display.
Moving up the line-up, the 87kWh models aren't eligible for government grants and the Advance grade with the larger battery pack starts at €63,995 while the 87kWh Evolve model starts from
€66,995.
Optional extras
Buyers of Advance models looking to add that little bit more tech can plump for a range of upgrades such as a Tech Pack which features an electric, self-dimming rear-view mirror, a head-up display and a Bose ten-speaker sound system for an additional €1,900. A panoramic sunroof is another option for €1,500 as are the €950 20-inch alloy wheels.
Both the Tech Pack and panoramic sunroof are standard on Evolve models in addition to PVC/synthetic suede seats, adaptive LED headlights, heated and cooled front seats, heated rear seats, eight-way electric adjustable front seats and ProPilot Park, a driver assistance system which can autonomously control the steering, accelerator, brakes and gears while parking. Extras on the Evolve spec include those same 20-inch alloy wheels (again, €950) and a full Nappa leather interior for an additional €1,500.
Important car for Nissan
Nissan is billing the Ariya as its most technologically advanced car to date and it's an important car for the company, the firm, having been a leader in the early days of the current wave of electric vehicles with the launch of the Leaf hatchback, has fallen behind some of its rivals in recent years. The Ariya shares its platform with the Renault Mégane E-Tech Electric, another car from a firm looking to make up for lost time in the electric race despite the early success of its Zoe supermini. That same platform, it has been reported, will also provide the underpinnings for the next generation of Nissan Leaf.
