The all new Mazda CX-5 will be on display at the Frankfurt Motor Show next month ahead of its launch in Ireland early in 2012. The compact SUV crossover is the first vehicle to demonstrate Mazda's full range of 'Skyactiv technology' combined with the design theme 'Kodo - Soul of Motion'.
Skyactiv technology brings with it new engines (petrol and diesel), transmissions, body and chassis. Mazda promises these will deliver 'outstanding environmental credentials' with safety, comfort and a fun drive.
European cars will get a choice of 2.0 petrol or 2.2-litre diesel power. The diesel will be offered in Standard Power and High Power versions with the former including a variant that sits in road tax Band A with CO2 emissions under 120g/km.
The styling picks up on themes from the Minagi and Shinari concept cars. The 'Kodo - Soul of Motion' design treatment brings with it a large front grille and is intended to convey 'vitality and agility'.
As well as the new CX-5 the updated Mazda3 will be launched at Frankfurt. The hatchback will feature lower CO2 emissions, updated styling and improved dynamics.
Mazda will unveil the CX-5 on September 13; we will bring you more details as part of our Frankfurt Motor Show coverage.
