Skoda has announced that its Enyaq Coupe iV, the slope-roofed variant of its electric Enyaq SUV, has finally gone on sale in Ireland following an "unforeseeable" 12-month delay. The firm has also announced pricing for the new model.
Although CompleteCar.ie tested the Enyaq Coupe way back in March of last year (and the prototype version in September 2021), a range of factors, not least "excessive worldwide demand" conspired to preclude the model from going on sale in Ireland until now. As well as the global semiconductor shortage playing a major part in stifling Skoda's production of its all-electric models, Russia's invasion of Ukraine also hindered its arrival, with the Volkswagen Group (of which Skoda forms a part) relying on several Ukraine-based suppliers for important parts such as wiring looms.
Range and pricing
The Enyaq Coupe will be available in Ireland in three different versions: the Enyaq Coupe 60, 80 and 80X. Opening the range at €56,710, the Coupe 60 features a 62kWh battery pack and a single electric motor sending 179hp to the rear wheels, giving this variant a range between charges of 416km.
At the mid-point of the line-up is the €62,685 Enyaq Coupe 80, utilising a bigger (82kWh) battery, developing 204hp and serving up a WLTP range of 545km.
At the top of the Irish range is the Coupe 80x starting from €65,645 and with 265hp and all-wheel drive on tap thanks to a second electric motor located on the front axle.
Also available are higher-spec Sportline models offering more in the way of equipment and sporty styling cues, though Irish buyers will have to wait some time longer for the arrival of the 299hp RS version of the Enyaq Coupe.
Delays still expected
Even with the model now on sale in Ireland though, Skoda still warns buyers to expect delays:
"The Irish launch of the Enyaq Coupe was delayed by more than 12 months as result of excessive worldwide demand. We are delighted to finally confirm prices and specifications and would encourage customers to place their orders," said Libor Pavlas, product manager at Skoda Ireland.
"The original Enyaq iV, Skoda's first fully electric vehicle, was first revealed back in 2020, with Irish sales pre-booked online by way of a €1,000 deposit. Three years on and demand continues to outstrip supply so early ordering is strongly advised for the Coupe version."
