Letterkenny motor show planned by dealers

Over 80 different models will be on display at the Letterkenny motor show.

Eleven Irish car dealers are in the process of planning a Letterkenny motor show, expected to get under way this October.

Some 20 carmakers, represented by local franchised dealers, will be showcasing new models at the show, which will take place over a single day. The event is geared towards those currently in the market for a new car, and it's intended to simplify the process of looking for and buying a new model.

"Following the success of the Drogheda, Kilkenny and Wexford shows we realised that an event in Donegal would be of benefit to everyone locally too," said Daniel Carlin, a local representative from First Citizen Finance.

"It's a great opportunity for car buyers to see a large, varied range of vehicles in one place and on one single visit. It makes sense to bring the show to Letterkenny and all the team at First Citizen Finance is looking forward to supporting the local motor dealers as they plan for October."

Organisers of the show are working closely with Donegal County Council, An Garda Síochána, Letterkenny Chamber of Commerce and other community stakeholders.

Dealers

The dealers present include Connolly Motor Group, operators of three Volkswagen dealers in Ballina, Sligo and Letterkenny, Divers Hyundai, McGinley Motors (Mazda, Peugeot, Volvo and Land Rover), Hegarty's Ford Letterkenny and Kelly's Toyota dealers.

Other dealers include iMotors Letterkenny (Kia and Nissan), Highland Motors (Renault, Dacia, Honda and Citroen), Manor Motors (Opel), Browne's Cars Milford (Suzuki), Maxus Donegal (Maxus and SsangYong), as well as DMG Motors (SEAT and Skoda).

Irish motor shows this year

A number of other Irish motor events have also been confirmed - such as the Carole Nash Historic Festival held at Mondello Park in early August, showcasing cars from the 1920s up to the 1960s.

In a similar vein, the Vintage & Classic Vehicle Show will take place at Galway Racecourse on July 2. This event attracted over 800 vintage and classic cars last year, along with 25 enthusiast clubs.

The Letterkenny show is promised to "improve the new car buying experience by using one location to offer greater choice to customers and ease of access to a large range of cars."
