Bank of Ireland Finance has announced a new partnership with BYD (Build Your Dreams). The partnership will see Bank of Ireland Finance become the exclusive car finance partner for BYD in Ireland, providing financing options for customers interested in purchasing a BYD EV.
BYD is a Chinese company with an established presence in China since 1995. It has been manufacturing EVs since 2003 and sells its vehicles in over 50 countries worldwide. The company had global sales of nearly one million purely electric cars in 2022.
The new partnership between Bank of Ireland Finance and BYD is a significant development for the Irish EV market. It will make it easier for Irish consumers to purchase a BYD EV, and it will help to boost the growing popularity of electric cars in Ireland.
BYD aims to make its mark in Ireland through Motor Distributors Limited (MDL), which will exclusively distribute BYD electric vehicles nationwide through its dealerships in Dublin and Cork.
The partnership will initially see the BYD Atto 3 on sale in Ireland. The Atto 3 is a compact crossover with a range of up to 420km on a single charge. Prices start at €37,128, including incentives.
The BYD Dolphin will also be available in Ireland in the coming months. The Dolphin is a hatchback with a range of up to 420km. Irish prices start at €27,818, including incentives.
Speaking at the launch of the BYD partnership, Derek McDermott, Managing Director at Bank of Ireland Finance, said: "This is a very exciting development for Bank of Ireland Finance, and we look forward to working with BYD and enhancing our existing partnership with MDL in ensuring that the BYD brand becomes quickly recognised here as a leader in the EV field. Bank of Ireland Finance has a range of finance options available to customers looking to purchase a BYD vehicle and will continue to work in supporting our customers in making the green transition."
