Renault Scenic goes electric in 2024

Renault has confirmed that its next new EV will be the Scenic E-Tech Electric.

Renault has announced that its next new model will be a complete reinvention of one of its well-known nameplates, as it reveals the 2024 Scenic E-Tech Electric undergoing testing on the road wearing camouflage. While the Scenic name was previously used on Renault MPVs, the new car takes the shape of a practical crossover and, if you're struggling to see past the dazzling wrap, take a look through the image gallery accompanying our news story from last year detailing the Scenic Vision concept car to get a feel for how the new production car will look when it arrives in Ireland next year.

C-segment onslaught continues

At the Irish launch of the new Renault Austral last week, Renault Ireland confirmed that the French brand was focusing its efforts on the C-segment due to its popularity and opportunity for growth. Although no dimensions have been confirmed for the new car, the Scenic E-Tech Electric will fall into this category, though it's expected to sit above the Renault Megane E-Tech Electric in the line-up.

A spacious five-seat body should help the new Scenic compete with one of the most successful electric models on the market, the Volkswagen ID.4. It's highly likely that the Scenic will be sold with a variety of battery capacity and electric motor ratings, as per the Nissan Ariya - a car that shares its core platform and technology with that of the Renault Megane E-Tech Electric.

Munich debut

The first public outing for the new Scenic E-Tech Electric will be at the IAA Mobility Show in Munich this September, fast becoming one of the most important motor shows in Europe. The Scenic is the second C-segment car developed under the 'Renaulution' strategy and the first to 'embody its new sustainable development strategy on the environment, safety and inclusion' according to Renault.

It's expected that the Renault Scenic will hit Irish showrooms by the first half of 2024.
