Pininfarina previews future model with Pura Vision

The Automobili Pininfarina Pura Vision will make its public debut at Monterey Car Week.

Automobili Pininfarina, the manufacturer of the Battista electric hypercar, has unveiled this stunning show car named the Pura Vision, which may serve as a preview for their upcoming model. This four-seater vehicle makes its debut at the esteemed Monterey Car Week later this month.

Despite its raised ride height, Automobili Pininfarina doesn't call the Pura Vision an SUV but describes it as an electric Luxury Utility Vehicle (e-LUV). At the front of the Pura Vision, one can spot incredibly thin headlights that utilise ultra-slim L.E.S.S. nanofibre lighting technology, creating a distinctive lighting signature. The lower section of the front bumper contains air intakes for cooling and aerodynamics. Carbon fibre is exposed in the lower areas, while the bodywork boasts a sleek Bianco Siestre Gloss paint.

The vehicle sits on 23-inch matte black wheels equipped with chunky off-road-capable tires, giving it a unique blend of ruggedness and simplicity. Its cab-rearward design adds to the show car's striking appearance, accentuating the purposeful rear haunches, particularly in the side profile.

Dave Amantea, Chief Design Officer, Automobili Pininfarina, said: "Pura Vision embraces the DNA of iconic vehicles from Pininfarina's past, to shape the future with sharp lines and a modern aesthetic. It is distinctive from every angle and showcases our Pura design philosophy on a new kind of vehicle. A dramatic presence, inviting interior and curated materials make this a car like no other, yet clients will recognise it as a Pininfarina with its beautiful body, timeless proportions and technical lower body detailing."

Its doors are hinged at opposite ends of the car and open in conjunction with a hinged glass section of the roof, much like a gull wing, to create an inviting 'tri-opening' door setup allowing unobstructed access to the cabin.

The interior showcases a minimalist and modern design, featuring a dashboard closely resembling one ready for production. A wide digital instrument display sits behind a squarish steering wheel with haptic controls on each spoke. A secondary digital display is also set at a shallow angle lower down on the centre console, extending towards the rear seats. The cabin's materials, including a fabric blend of Nativa wool and recycled polyester, align with the company's commitment to sustainability.

Automobili Pininfarina demonstrates its dedication to sustainability by making the most of its resources. The offcuts from the production process of the wheels are recycled and used to create protective kickplates on the door sills.

Paolo Dellachà, the CEO of Automobili Pininfarina, sees the Pura Vision as a bridge to a new chapter in the company's history. "In our fifth year, we have already celebrated our unique heritage with the introduction of the Battista Edizione Nino Farina. PURA Vision previews an exciting future and shows what can be achieved if we apply our PURA design principles to an entirely new kind of vehicle.

"Much more important than simply a concept previewing one forthcoming vehicle, PURA Vision presents a sharp, modern design philosophy inspired by the rich heritage of Pininfarina and defining an unmistakable recipe for a collection of beautiful new luxury cars."

This show car embodies Pura design principles, inspired by Pininfarina's rich heritage, and sets the stage for a collection of beautiful luxury cars. While the company has not disclosed specific performance capabilities yet, the Pura Vision could likely share some platform architecture with the 1,900hp Battista, possibly offering an improved range with a slightly dialled-back performance compared to the hypercar's breathtaking capabilities.
