What is it?
Possibly the last iteration of the highly successful Lamborghini Gallardo. The LP 570-4 part of the name confirms that it is propelled by the same 570hp V10 engine as the Gallardo Superleggera, with power sent to all four wheels. Super Trofeo is Lamborghini's one-make race series and Stradale literally means 'road' in Italian, so this is supposedly a road-going version of that race car. Sadly, it's no lighter than the Superleggera.
Why's it here?
Stephan Winkelmann, President and CEO of Lamborghini, said it's to celebrate Italy (hence the use of bright red paint - Italy's traditional racing colour), but we reckon it's a last hurrah for the Gallardo before a replacement is previewed some time in 2013.
Show stopper or floor filler?
Although the Super Trofeo Stradale production run will be limited to just 150 examples, and really it's just a mildly reworked Gallardo Superleggera, we can't help but love it. The devilish red and black finish was enhanced by it tearing onto the stage behind computer generated fire and brimstone... It's a show stopper. Irrelevant as it might be.
