What is it?
A lifestyle Defender concept. While the regular DC100 concept the Sport model shares its stand with looks like a credible replacement for Land Rover's iconic 4x4, this shows its 'lifestyle' potential. We're not sure how many surfers hanker after a roofless, zero practicality beach machine, but Land Rover seems to think it's a good idea.
Why's it here?
We're not entirely sure. As Land Rover's Design Director Gerry McGovern admits: "it's like no other Land Rover we've seen before." Quite, and perhaps there's a reason for that. The detailing is cool though, and at least it shows some of the potential for different versions off the DC100's floor pan, but a pick-up or long-wheelbase model might have been a bit more relevant.
Show stopper or floor filler?
A little of both, as it's admirable that Land Rover is exploring different avenues for its iconic 4x4, even if this DC100 spin-off seems a little bit contrived.
