Peugeot supports Dublin footballer

Peugeot Ireland is backing Lyndsey Davey and the Plant the Planet Games in Kenya.

Peugeot Ireland has announced that it will support superstar Dublin footballer Lyndsey Davey as she takes on Plant the Planet Games on November 17th in Kenya.

One of 50 inter-county players

Davey will be one of 50 inter-county players heading to East Africa to plant thousands of trees to help try and alleviate the worst effects of climate change, as well as raising awareness of the work of Self Help Africa - a community-led, market-based enterprise focused on approaches to agricultural development, ensuring that people have access to nutritious food, decent income and employment and clean water and basic services, all while sustaining natural resources.

Football and hurling exhibitions

Needless to say, it won't be just about the trees. There will also be Gaelic football and hurling exhibition matches, a soccer match against AFC Leopards, and cultural and agricultural engagements.

It's the second year of the Plant the Planet Games, originally established by Warriors for Humanity CEO and Founder Alan Kerins. Last year, over €500,000 was raised by inter-county players in support of the event, with one million trees being planted to tackle the effects of climate change.

All-Ireland and All-Star

Speaking about the trip, Davey commented, "I am thrilled Peugeot have come onboard as my key sponsors. Their support means I can now fully focus on the trip ahead and all the important duties that it includes." Davey is a former Dublin Senior Footballer who made her senior debut in 2004, aged just 14, only retiring last year. She went on to win five All-Ireland Titles, 12 Leinster titles and five All-Star Awards. She works as a Firefighter and Paramedic at Dublin Airport.

Des Cannon, Managing Director at Peugeot Ireland, said, "We are proud to support Lyndsey on this special trip that will contribute so much to the important work done by Self Help Africa. As official partners to Dublin GAA, it is nice to be able to support a former player in their post playing career endeavours."
