Irish order books open for new Toyota C-HR

Toyota Ireland opens order books for new C-HR with a starting price of €40k.

Toyota Ireland has opened the order books for the new C-HR crossover, with the first cars expected to arrive into the country in the next couple of weeks.

1.8 and 2.0-litre hybrids

Initially, the C-HR will be available with a choice of 1.8-litre 140hp or 2.0-litre 198hp hybrid engines, with a plug-in hybrid version waiting in the wings. The C-HR will be priced in Ireland from €40,520 (the original C-HR cost a mere €27,000 when it first arrived) and will be available in Sport, Sport+, Sol, Premiere Edition, and GR Sport.

It's those latter two high-spec version which will offer the distinctive contrast rear end, shared with the US-market Crown, which slathers everything aft of the C-pillar in black paint. It looks especially good when paired with the gold 'Solar Flare' paint.

Digital cockpit

Standard equipment will include a blind spot monitor, front and rear parking sensors, rear-view camera, lane tracing steering, dual-zone climate control, rain sensing wiper and dusk sensing lights, an eight-inch cloud-connected infotainment touchscreen, a 12.3-inch driver's instrument display, and 18-inch alloy wheels.

CO2 emissions for the 1.8-litre version start from 108g/km, while the 2.0-litre version manages 111g/km. The plug-in hybrid model, when it arrives, will have CO2 emissions under 20g/km.

Recycled materials

Quite apart from being a hybrid, the new C-HR is also ramping up Toyota's recycling content including seat fabric made from 100 per cent recycled plastic bottles, a vegan-material steering wheel, and new paint which uses water-based instead of oil-based paint. Its panoramic glass roof - available on Sport+, Sol Premiere Edition and GR Sport Premier Edition - is also 5kg lighter than it used to be.

Zoë Bradley, Head of Marketing Communications and Corporate Affairs in Toyota Ireland said: "After an exciting reveal earlier this year, we're excited to finally see the all-new Toyota C-HR Hybrid Electric arrive to Irish shores. The new Toyota C-HR is the ideal statement car for customers who are looking for a stylish car, with standout design and sustainable features, which doesn't compromise on power. The original Toyota C-HR is one of Toyota's most popular models for Irish buyers, so we're expecting high demand for the new generation model and encourage customers to contact their local dealerships to avoid missing out."
