You might not think that Skoda would need to do much updating where the Enyaq electric SUV is concerned, what with it being the fourth-best-selling EV in the European car market right now, with more than 200,000 sales, and indeed the Enyaq was the best-selling electric car across Europe in October. It’s also the ninth-best-selling EV in Ireland.
New styling
But all cars need updating from time to time, and while the mechanical core of the Enyaq won’t be changing much for 2025, Skoda is going to give it some new styling, and these images are our first peep at what’s to come.
The Enyaq will be getting a visual makeover using Skoda’s new ‘Modern Solid’ deign language, as seen on the new, more compact, Elroq electric SUV. Indeed, there are some strong visual similarities between the Elroq and what we can see from these sketches, as the Enyaq gets slimmer headlights with individual blocks of LED daytime running lights, and a shallower, almost moustache-like upper grille, with a larger air intake below a thicker front bumper section. Skoda calls this the ‘Tech Deck’ face.
Skoda’s old badge is no more
There’s also the use of the Skoda name picked out in letters instead of the classic arrowhead badge and the use of clever Matrix LED headlights with automatic high beams and dimming. There are dark chrome accents, and there’ll be a new Enyaq-exclusive colour: Dark Olive.
At the rear, the changes seem less obvious, and it looks as if the Enyaq will just be getting some slightly different rear lights and tweaks to the bumper, along with new body-coloured side skirts for the Coupe version.
Improved aero
The updated Enyaq will also feature, according to Skoda, better aerodynamics, which is expected to help squeeze a little more range out of the battery, although for the moment, Skoda isn’t saying precisely how much. For the record, the current maximum one-charge range for the Enyaq is the claimed 570km achieved by the sleek Enyaq Coupe.
Skoda has also said that there will be some powertrain updates, as well as improvements to the cabin design and materials, and the software for the big 13-inch infotainment touchscreen.
We don’t have an official on-sale date for the updated Enyaq yet, but it should be arriving in Ireland in early-to-mid 2025.
