Having firmly established itself in pretty much every segment it has entered Kia looks set to take on its biggest challenge by going head-to-head with BMW and Mercedes-Benz. The Korean manufacturer's development of a luxury rear-wheel drive saloon has long been mooted, but the car, codenamed KH, was confirmed today (February 13) with the first official sketches of the all-new flagship model.
Set to be launched in Korea during the first half of the year the KH's styling is said to draw it inspiration from a 'distinctive, modern and classic' design concept. Quite what that means we do not know but we do like the now trademark 'Tiger mouth' front grille flanked by tapered-back headlights, the bold character lines and unfussy rear end.
"Our all-new flagship sedan integrates all of our key capabilities such as design, performance, high-tech features and infotainment into one striking model," said Soon-Nam Lee, Kia's Director of the Overseas Marketing.
It is unclear whether the KH will be offered in Ireland, but Soon-Nam Lee did say: "Although launch timings for overseas markets are yet to be confirmed, this all-new rear-wheel drive large sedan will definitely become the leading model of our line-up around the world, showcasing the best of the best of Kia."
