What is it?
A Jaguar XF with an estate rear end grafted on and a suitably lifestyle name. It'll arrive with a choice of 2.2- and 3.0-litre turbodiesel engines and boot space to match the BMW 5 Series Touring. Despite the elongated appearance it's only a few millimetres longer than the four-door saloon and should be just as good to drive.
Why's it here?
Europeans love big estates, hence the success of the Audi A6 Avant, BMW 5 Series Touring and Mercedes-Benz E-Class Estate so it's more of a question of 'why wasn't it here before now?' Although Jaguar isn't saying as much yet, we believe it'll spawn a four-wheel drive variant in time too.
Show stopper or floor filler?
It's no show stopper in the way that recent Jaguar concepts have been, but it is undoubtedly an attractive shape and probably one of the most elegant estates in its class.
