Hyundai reveals new Santa Fe ahead of NY debut

An all-new Hyundai Santa Fe will surface next month.

Pictures of the all-new Hyundai Santa Fe have been issued ahead of the model's launch next month.  The unveiling will take place at the New York International Auto Show.

Codenamed 'DM' in Korea the new model is the third generation Santa Fe.  Since the model's introduction around 2.56 million examples have been sold worldwide.

The styling is based on the Fluidic Sculpture design philosophy and introduces a concept called 'Storm Edge'.  It is supposed to reflect the strong, dynamic images created by nature in a building storm.  Hyundai describes its latest creation as featuring 'sophisticated and refined lines, which are in harmony with bold and voluminous surfaces, completing a more aggressive and classic look than its predecessor.'

Elements of the design include Hyundai's trademark hexagonal grille.  Front and rear bumpers are wider and the side character lines are designed to give 'a more aerodynamic feeling'.

Core product concepts behind the latest Santa Fe are, according to Hyundai, 'Refinement, Smartness and Practicality'.  More details will be announced in time for the New York show in April.
