The Peugeot Urban Crossover concept was unveiled at the Auto China motor show in Beijing this week. Embodying a number of new styling cues for the company it is designed to appeal to city dwellers around the world.
Created by teams in Paris, Shanghai and Sao Paulo, Peugeot describes the Urban Crossover as a new type of vehicle. The dimensions, 4.14 metres long and 1.74 metres wide, are designed for the town while the style mixes saloon and SUV elements.
The new look includes a 'smiling' grille and sculpted front end to give a 'reassuring impression of protection and robustness'. At the rear there are flush tail lamps with the LED lights designed to look like claws. The roof design echoes the double bubble shape of the RCZ coupé. In profile the roof line, windscreen rake and body feature lines are designed to create a dynamic appearance.
Peugeot hasn't said anything about a production future for the Urban Crossover, but it doesn't take much imagination to see something similar in showrooms - possibly called the 2008. The concept will make its European debut at the Paris Motor Show in September.
