BMW and Zagato create one-off coupé

Spectacular show coupé revealed by BMW and Zagato.

BMW has teamed up with Italian design house Zagato to create a one-off show car that was unveiled at the prestigious Villa d'Este Concours on the banks of Lake Como. The BMW Zagato Coupé aims to build on the fine tradition of Zagato that saw the Italian designers take home the Concorso d'Eleganza Design Award in both 2010 and 2011 for the Alfa Romeo TZ3 Corsa and Aston Martin V12 Zagato respectively.

The bodywork for the BMW Z4-based coupé is hand-rolled aluminium that has been built around the 'Vmax Concept' of an aerodynamically optimised machine capable of achieving high speeds. To proof the concept the Zagato Coupé, while a one-off car, is road registered, compliant with crash regulations and has undergone high speed testing by BMW.

Finished in Rosso Vivace paint finish the Zagato Coupé wears a number of Zagato trademarks including the double-bubble roof and aerodynamic Kamm-tail rear-end, but also has many unique touches most notably being the floating 'z's that make up the cars kidney grille.
