Ferrari has announced it will host an online auction to raise funds for the families of the victims of the earthquakes that have rocked the Emilia-Romagna region of Italy since the 20th of May.
Ferrari, along with Lamborghini, Maserati and bike manufacturer Ducati, have all ceased production in the wake of the over 600 earthquakes or aftershocks, which have rocked the region in the past eight days - leaving 17 dead.
Alongside Formula 1 related products, including a V8 engine for one of it race cars and overalls and helmets donated by Fernando Alonso and Felipe Massa, the auction will also include a £1 million 599XX Evo.
In the days leading up to the auction next week, www.ferraristore.com will dedicate a section to this initiative, which sets out to contribute significant sums to those families who have lost loved ones.
This is not the first time Ferrari has brought its weight to help out after disasters: the Italian firm contributed more than 80million Yen (about €824,000) to the effort following the earthquake and tsunami in Japan last year.
