Skoda's new B-segment Fabia has gone on sale in Ireland and will cost from €12,265. The 2011 model range is available in three trim levels and four engine power outputs from launch. The front features new headlamps and a redesigned grille with pronounced horizontal lines.
Two petrol options - 85- and 105bhp 1.2TSI - along with 75- and 90bhp 1.6TDI diesels are the revised engines on offer. The 1.2TSI 85bhp returns 5.2l/100km while the 105bhp version is now available with a seven-speed DSG automatic transmission. Both diesel offerings consume an average of 4.2l/100km. All Fabia versions are in VRT band A or B, meaning annual road tax of €104 or €156.
The car can be specified in Classic, Ambiente or Elegance trim levels. Classic versions start at €12,265 and €16,390 for the petrol and diesel versions respectively and have as standard remote central locking, electric front windows and four airbags. Ambiente versions get alloy wheels, projector headlamps and electric mirrors, while the Elegance trim adds a leather steering wheel, Bluetooth, cruise control and manual air conditioning. New options available for 2011 include a touch-screen satellite navigation system and MDI (Mobile Device Interface).
Boot space for the hatchback can be adjusted between 300- and 1,163 litres. Later this year Skoda will launch the 180bhp 1.4TSI Fabia RS model. Details on the saloon and estate variants will be published when released.
