Volvo has teased a hardcore version of its S60 saloon. The single image of the S60 Polestar was posted on the US Facebook page of the Swedish manufacturer along with an announcement that the car will be "Debuting June 16th at the Gothenburg City Race. Stay tuned for more."
No news on the spec details of the car as of yet but recent speculation has pointed to Volvo buying up the remaining Yamaha-developed engines that were used in the XC90 and S80. The same engine - with a pair of Garrett turbochargers thrown in for good measure - is currently used by Noble in the M600. In its most extreme setting the M600 can produce 659hp though it is unlikely Volvo would go quite that far. Four hundred and fifty horsepower should be enough to compete with the likes of the BMW M3 and C 63 AMG from Mercedes-Benz.
All will be revealed when the TTA Racing Series - including the Polestar Team - makes its way to Gothenburg on June 16 for the City Street Race.
