What's the news?
At the European launch of the Hemi-powered SRT model, Jeep announced the arrival of the S Limited Grand Cherokee. Having debuted in concept form at the Geneva Motor Show in March the European-specific trim level was given the green light and will enter dealerships later this year.
Exterior
While the S Limited is a tough talking Jeep at heart it is aimed at a younger, urbanite audience and features styling that - Jeep hopes - will appeal to such buyers. The exterior has a more streamlined appearance thanks to the introduction of new roof moulding covers that replace the roof rack. The grille surround appears in black gloss and mesh grille texture in platinum chrome. Black headlamp bezels, black trim on the boot and black chrome dual exhaust tips continue the "blacked-out" theme throughout the vehicle's exterior. The new Jeep Grand Cherokee S Limited rides on 20-inch black-gloss aluminium wheels that complete the aggressive appearance.
Interior
The interior of the new S Limited features elements inspired by the interior of the flagship SRT model. A leather-wrapped perforated and heated steering wheel is complemented by ventilated sports-styled Nappa leather and suede seats. Real carbon fibre accents are integrated into the instrument panel and door trim panels. Bright, racing style brake and pedal pads add to the sporty, performance-oriented look inside the cabin.
Mechanicals
Jeep Grand Cherokee S Limited will only be offered with the latest 3.0-litre V6 turbodiesel engine that produces 241hp and 550Nm of torque. Mated to a five-speed automatic transmission and Quadra-Trac II four-wheel drive the S Limited will still have the 'go anywhere' appeal of a Jeep just with a more youthful looks.
Quadra-Lift air suspension can raise the ride height from 16.5- to 27cm while the Selec-Terrain, standard Hill Descent Control and Hill Start Assist mean it is well prepared for the urban jungle.
Anything else?
In addition to the Grand Cherokee S Limited, Jeep also announced the introduction of the Compass Black Edition. More a styling pack rather than a separate model the Black treatment is available across the Compass range and adds a gloss black grille, blackened head- and fog lights and special 18-inch alloy wheels in, you guessed it, gloss black.
