What's the news?
The Land Rover Freelander 2 has been given a 'premium overhaul'. It gets updated styling and more equipment with new Dynamic and HSE derivatives extending the range. Land Rover will officially unveil the updated Freelander at the Moscow International Motor Show on 29th August.
Exterior
There are new head- and tail lamps incorporating LED technology and there is a new 'signature graphic' for the front daytime running lamps. Bright trim is used on the fog light bezels and grille while detail changes bring the various elements of the design together. On XS models a new design of 17-inch alloy wheel is fitted as well as an enhanced styling pack.
Interior
Three new interior colour schemes are available in the new Dynamic derivative as well as a new, seven-inch colour touch screen and redesigned centre console. Other features include keyless starting, 'Say What You See' voice activation with visual prompts and rear view camera capability.
Mechanicals
A new electronic handbrake is fitted. This takes account of various factors to apply the appropriate brake force including whether the car is parked on a slope and increasing the clamping force as the brake disks cool. The 2.2-litre diesel engine continues as before with 150- and 190hp TD4 and SD4 versions. For economy-minded drivers there is the two-wheel drive eD4 using the 150hp engine and offering a combination of 47.1mpg economy and 158g/km CO2 emissions.
Anything else?
The new Dynamic model comes with a full body kit, gloss black body trim and 19-inch alloy wheels. The interior comes with electric leather seats in Ebony, Ivory or Pimento along with co-ordinating door trims. HSE versions get wood trim, panoramic sunroof and 825W Meridian surround sound system.
Land Rover Ireland has confirmed that the updated Freelander will be in showrooms by December.
