What's the news?
Porsche has expanded its Cayenne range with a new Turbo S model. Power has increased from the standard Turbo version and various interior and exterior trim details have been upgraded.
Exterior
Many of the exterior trinkets have been carried over from the Turbo model; however, various bits are new. The air intakes, headlight housings and the base of the door mirrors have all been painted in high-gloss black; as have the insides of the wheels. The 21-inch bespoke '911 Turbo II' rims have been designed specifically for the Turbo S.
Interior
Two bi-colour leather packages have been made for the Turbo S; available in either Black/Carrera Red or Black/Luxor Beige colour combinations. Contrast stitching is also a feature of the Turbo S's cabin. Porsche also offers a carbon interior package to highlight this top end model.
Mechanicals
The twin-turbocharged 4.8-litre V8 engine has been taken from the Cayenne Turbo, with power up from 500- to 550hp. Torque is also up, from 700- to 750Nm, giving the Turbo S a 0-100km/h time of 4.5 seconds, and a top speed of 283km/h. Porsche claims that the power hike has left fuel economy and emissions figures alone though, at 24.6mpg (11.5 litres/100km) and 270g/km respectively.
The Turbo S wouldn't be complete without chassis and handling enhancements; so Dynamic Chassis Control (PDCC), Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus (PTV Plus) and the Sport Chrono package have all been fitted as standard; as well as carrying the air suspension and stability management system (PASM) over from the Turbo.
Anything else?
The Cayenne Turbo S is available to order now. Deliveries are expected to start in January 2013.
