McLaren gives track-only 12C Can-Am the go ahead

Got about €500,000 to burn on a track toy? McLaren would like a word.

What's the news?
McLaren GT has confirmed production of the 12C GT Can-Am Edition the company showcased at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance earlier this year. The one-off model inspired the company to make a limited run of 30 examples. Let's remind ourselves why the concept received such good press...

Exterior
The Can-Am Edition's massive rear wing and aero package ensure you don't miss the special edition McLaren. Lightweight carbon-fibre features on the door mirrors, engine cover, vents and badges. To reduce weight even further, McLaren GT has installed new black racing alloy wheels shod in Pirelli racing tyres.

Interior
A race ready interior replaces the comfort found in the standard model. Two race seats with six-point harnesses have been fitted; as has a racing steering wheel and full roll cage.

Mechanicals
The MP4-12C's 3.8-litre V8 has been retuned to develop 630hp; and the aero package combined with the sticky Pirellis are sure to make the handling even sharper. Akebono brakes replace the standard items too; making stopping a much quicker experience.

Anything else?
Production of the 12C Can-Am Edition is set to start next March in Woking - McLaren GT's home. To buy one you'll need about €500,000 or so.
