What's the news?
The fourth generation Subaru Forester will go on sale in Ireland in summer 2013. It is larger than the outgoing model but is claimed to offer improved performance and economy as well as being more refined.
Exterior
Subaru has given the Forester a more dramatic front end with vertical air intakes below more angular headlamps. The silhouette is similar to the current car's but with a rising swage line near the top of the doors.
Interior
There isn't much to go on, but a larger, more practical cabin is promised.
Mechanicals
At launch customers will have the choice of 2.0-litre petrol or diesel power with 150hp. There will also be a new, direct-injection, 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine with 280hp. A six-speed manual transmission is standard with Lineartronic CVT automatic standard for the turbo petrol model and optional on the non-turbo petrol unit. All models will come with Subaru's symmetrical all-wheel drive.
Anything else?
Full details of the new Forester will be announced in the New Year.
