McLaren releases first P1 video

Funky camouflage and a new video preview McLaren P1 supercar.

Development work on the McLaren P1 continues in preparation for its next global appearance.  Although the date of that appearance hasn't been confirmed, the Geneva Motor show is just over a month away.  A new video of the camouflaged P1 undergoing testing has been uploaded to the company's YouTube channel.

Sharp-eyed viewers may notice that the disguise used on the prototype P1 isn't just random but consists of the outlines of racing circuits.  Each track is in some way significant in McLaren's 50-year history - demonstrating the company's attention to every last detail.

A fleet of XP-codenamed prototype P1s are running around the clock in the hands of a dedicated team of engineers, technicians and racing drivers.  Development work is taking place across the globe, on roads and racing circuits and in all conditions.  Also involved in the process are McLaren Automotive's technology partners, including Akebono on brakes, Pirelli on tyres and Mobil 1 on cooling, lubrication and hydraulic fluids.

The aim of the testing, in McLaren's own words, is to make the P1 'the best driver's car in the word on road and track'.
