Citroen previews next-gen Picasso

Technospace concept previews next Citroen C4 Picasso.

What's the news?
At the Geneva Motor Show next month Citroen will unveil the Technospace concept, which points to the company's next compact MPV. A production model based on this concept will be released in the second half of 2013.

Exterior
Most cars grow with each new generation, but the Technospace is slightly smaller than the current C4 Picasso. The body incorporates a panoramic windscreen that extends into the roof line, while 'high-tech' headlamps are fitted along with 3D-effect taillights borrowed from the company's other concept cars.

Interior
No photos of the interior have been released, but there is the promise of 'standard-setting' space and a 537-litre boot. A 12-inch, high-definition panoramic touchscreen acts as the main driver interface.

Mechanicals
We don't know exactly what's under the bonnet but CO2 emissions are claimed to be 98g/km. Credit for this is given to Citroen's new 'Efficient Modular Platform 2', which is designed to minimise weight. Power is likely to come from the current range of HDi diesel engines.

Anything else?
Since the introduction of the Xsara Picasso in 1999 Citroen has sold almost three million Picasso-branded vehicles.
