What's the news?
The 2014 Ford Mustang has been chosen for a starring role in the upcoming Need for Speed movie. After a full five decades of movie presence for the nameplate, the all-new 2014 Mustang gets its screen debut. Launched to the world last month, it's the perfect opportunity to witness the new pony car in action, long before it reaches European shores in 2015.
Need for Speed debuts on 14th March and stars Aaron Paul in the first movie version of the popular Electronic Arts video game series. "On-screen or on the road, the visceral sight and sound of Mustang has been inspiring fans for nearly five decades. The feeling of optimism and being in control that Mustang's world-class power and performance provide is a perfect match for Aaron Paul's character in Need for Speed." said Jim Farley, Ford executive vice president, global marketing, sales and service and Lincoln.
Originally shown in the James Bond movie Goldfinger, it's estimated that the Ford Mustang - in many different model iterations - has made more than 3,200 appearances. Although, while the world awaits, gaming fans already have virtual access to the new Mustang in EA's Need for Speed Rivals, also launched last month.
Anything else?
We already know that the all-new Mustang comes with a choice of engines and body styles. There's a Fastback and Convertible. Both will be offered with a choice of engines - a new EcoBoost turbocharged 2.3-litre and - of course - a traditionally muscular 5.0-litre V8, pushing out 426hp. It's a long way from the Mustang's original launch in 1964.
