Rolls-Royce had its new baby only last year, so there'll be no newcomers at the Paris Motor Show this year. Instead, the company's line-up will comprise a couple of customised Ghosts and a Phantom or three.
Yes, Rolls-Royce has decided to use the 2010 show to remind its wealthy target audience that it's not all 'budget' saloons; Rolls-Royce is still very much the apotheosis of posh motoring.
Five cars will grace the stand: an Extended Wheelbase Phantom, a Phantom Coupé, a Phantom Drophead Coupé, and two Ghosts. Each will be dressed up with parts and paintwork from the company's personalisation programme.
The idea is to show what can be done with a Roller, given the right money and inclination. The only pictures we're getting before the show is of the longer Phantom, and it's all very charmingly discreet and tasteful. No Mansory style overhauls here.
The Phantom in the pictures is painted in Gunmetal metallic and has a 'Sunrise' leather interior. The clock, dials and instrument faces are all mother of pearl, and a Paris Motor Show plaque commemorates the occasion. Millionaires, your name goes there.
Like we said, the idea is to reinforce the point that Rolls-Royce hasn't gone all cheap. As CEO Torsten Muller-Otvos puts it: "Ghost is a more approachable Rolls-Royce that is bringing an entirely new type of customer to the Rolls-Royce brand.
"But in Paris we are also demonstrating how we continue to strengthen our position as the pinnacle luxury brand thanks to the enduring appeal of Phantom family and the depth of our bespoke personalisation service."
