Jaguar's show stopping concept

High-powered Jaguar supercar of the future is electric.

What is it?

This, friends, is the astonishing Jaguar C-X75 electric supercar. It has 790hp, cracks 160km/h in 5.5 seconds, tops out at 330km/h and has a pair of 80,000rpm turbine engines feeding the battery pack.

Why's it here?

Jaguar presumably wants to show that Ferrari hasn't got the eco supercar utopia of the future all to itself. The C-X75 has four 198hp electric motors - one for each wheel - with a combined torque output of 1,600Nm.

And so to this pair of turbines. They each generate 95hp and between them provide enough battery juice to give the car a 900-kilometre range. The C-X75's battery-only range is about 110 kilometres. Jag quotes CO2 at just 38g/km.

Show stopper or floor filler?

Stop the show! It's not even started yet, but just stop it. This is a real surprise, and at a time when surprises are rare. The C-X75 is tantalisingly futuristic, while also being feasible and absolutely gorgeous. Jag reckons it's inspired by the C- and D-Type racers of the Fifties; we think it has shades of 2020's XJ220.
