Fiat Helps 'Ireland Stand Up To Cancer'

Fiat 500 raffle generates €30,000 in ticket sales.

The new Convention Centre in Dublin was the venue for the first ever "Ireland Stands up to Cancer" gala charity ball that took place last weekend (October 2). The glamorous event was attended by numerous famous faces including Louis Walsh; Norma Smurfit; Aprés Match's Barry Murphy and his TV presenter wife Flo McSweeney; Restauranteurs Sallyanne and Derry Clarke; and Newstalk's George Hook.

The event was organised to help raise funds for the four major cancer charities in Ireland: The All Ireland Cooperative Oncology Research Group; Friends of St. Luke's Hospital; The Children's Cancer Fund, Our Lady's Hospital, Crumlin; and The Marie Keating Foundation.

For its part, Fiat Ireland donated a Fiat 500 1.2 Pop to the charity raffle and such was the buzz surrounding the car it generated some €30,000 in ticket sales, making up a substantial portion of the approximate €250,000 raised in total on the night. The Fiat 500 1.2 Pop was eventually won by Sallyanne Sherry from Ballsbridge in Dublin.
