Alfa Romeo gets ready to rock Goodwood

Festival of Speed goers are in for a treat this weekend from Alfa.

What's the news?
As the Goodwood Festival of Speed kicks off, it looks like the Alfisti in attendance will be in for a real treat this year as Alfa Romeo will be showcasing an array of old and new cars on the hillclimb over the weekend while celebrating the 60th anniversary of the Giulietta model. Its beautiful 4C will be representing the brand in the Supercar Paddock where it will rub shoulders with some of the latest, fastest and rarest automotive exotica. In a new twist this year the Supercar Run up the hill will now be timed, and so Alfa Romeo has enlisted the skills of ex-Formula One driver, Rupert Keegan.

Accompanying him in the passenger seat will be CompleteCar's very own Dave Humphreys who, over the course of the weekend, will also be driving several of the classic Alfa Romeos that are being displayed. This includes a Gran Premio Tipo B P3 dating back to 1932 as well as a Gran Premio Tipo 159 Alfetta from 1951 that was raced by the great Juan Manuel Fangio.

Dave will also be driving the stunning 1955 Alfa Romeo 750 Competizione, of which just two were ever made, and this is believed to be the only fully functioning car in existence. As well as some classic competition cars, he will also be piloting an Alfa Romeo Giulietta SZ (Sprint Zagato), one of the most performance-oriented versions of the original Giulietta - only 30 were ever built in Coda Tronca (stub-tail) guise.

Anything else?
Alfa will have the latest versions of its Giulietta and MiTo models including the new high performance QV versions too, the former of which features the same engine and drivetrain as the 4C. The Italian firm will also be displaying a one-off MiTo that was created in cooperation with Marshall Amplifiers and features, yep, you've guessed it, a huge sound system designed by Marshall.
