Mercedes call in Brabus for Pullman project

Rumours are that Brabus has been commissioned to build new Merc Pullman.

What's the news?
Speculation of a €1 million über S-Class has being the rounds for a while now with the Pullman name attached to many of them. The latest rumour to hit the news wires is that famed Mercedes-Benz tuner, Brabus, has been commissioned to build the range topping car. News of Brabus' involvement was reported by news web site, Automobile News Europe. Neither Brabus nor Daimler has commented on the suggestion, but it is believed that the Pullman will arrive next year. With Mercedes itself working on eight new models and AMG busy with the 911-fighting AMG GT, the rumour may just have some credence.

Brabus has officially worked on projects for Mercedes-Benz before, the most notable being Brabus-tuned versions of the Smart hatch, coupé and roadster. Mechanical details of the flagship Mercedes have not been revealed, but it is expected to be larger and more expensive than the extended wheelbase Rolls-Royce Phantom. Within the 6.4-metre, armour-plated, body there will be three rows of seats. A partition separates the driver from the back seat passengers, who can sit facing each other. When it does arrive the Pullman is set to sit above a new Maybach badged S-Class, which, while being an extended wheelbase model, will feature only two rows of seats to the Pullman's three.

Anything else?

Brabus already offers a 730hp conversion for the S-Class, which is enough for a top speed 'limited to 325km/h'. With the Pullman said to offer protective armour for its occupants it may need such a conversion straight from the off.
