What's the news?
Enterprise Rent-A-Car has won the Excellence in the Workplace Award for its efforts to increase the number of female employees and also to create a more inclusive environment for LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender) and disabled staff.
The work came under the brand's 'Founding Values' project, which was designed to pinpoint gaps in the make-up of its workforce and has led to a doubling in the numbers of women joining the company and created an atmosphere whereby one-in-10 new hires now disclose that they have a disability compared to none a year ago. The accolade was presented at the recent Chambers Ireland CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) Awards.
Anything else?
"We are delighted to be recognised for the work we have done to provide every employee with an inclusive workplace that gives them the respect, training and the opportunity to succeed," said Leslee O'Loughlin, Group Human Resources Manager, Enterprise Rent-A-Car.
"We successfully achieved an increase in female representation in management and a significant growth in the number of female hires year-on-year. Although not specifically measured by statistical data, our LGBT initiatives and awareness campaign created a more open culture, which inspired a number of employees to openly disclose their LGBT status to colleagues."
