Renault outlines Initiale Paris trim

Luxury specification includes improved customer service packages from Renault.

What are we looking at?

A swanky new equipment level from Renault for top versions of its core models - think of it as a bit like a fledgling version of the DS sub-brand within Citroen, or Vignale over at Ford. These all-singing, all-dancing luxury Renaults will be called Initiale Paris.

What's the best thing about it?

Erm... swankiness? Basically, they have unique exterior styling, really upmarket interior materials with more soundproofing included, plenty of technology, economical powertrains that are said to be the 'cream of Renault power'... and a superior level of customer service. It is this last facet that is most interesting of all, as Renault says all Initiale Paris owners will have access to a dedicated call centre that can assist with any problems and also provide priority appointments at dealerships across the network. There will be a special, reserved 'Initiale Paris' area in showrooms and the IP Services Pack features an inclusive service/maintenance contract and extended warranty; upgrade the IPSP to Sérénité level and a concierge service will collect and return the car at service time - the car will come back with a full wash and interior valet, and in the meantime customers will be able to use a courtesy vehicle of the same level. One bit of bad news: there are currently no plans for Initiale Paris to come to Ireland. Oh. Damn.

Show stopper or filler?

Filler, although the newly-revealed fifth-gen Renault Espace is going to come in Initiale Paris trim and an example of this high-spec car was shown at the Paris Motor Show (how apt), where it looked good in its Améthyste Black paint with 19-inch wheels and specific exterior badging.
