What's the news?
Mercedes-Benz has announced it is to revive the Maybach badge. This time around it will not be a standalone car however, more a sub-brand - akin to the recently introduced Mercedes-AMG - with the name only being applied to the most luxurious versions of the S-Class.
The Mercedes-Maybach S-Class will debut at the upcoming LA Auto Show promising to "set a new benchmark for exclusivity." Differentiating the Maybach from the common-or-garden-variety S-Class will be an extra eight inches in the wheelbase leading to a more spacious cabin. Space that has been filled with a pair of Maybach specific reclining seats in the back, which undoubtedly feature a host of heating/cooling/massaging functions beneath the quilted leather.
Anything else?
The Maybach is also said to feature "lavishly designed, prestigious interiors" that offer plenty of scope for personalisation. Obviously the much touted €1 million starting price is just the tip of the iceberg for the Mercedes-Maybach S-Class
