What's the news?
Infiniti has given us a few more details about its concept coupé, which will be unveiled to the public in Detroit this week. Called the Q60 Concept, it's more or less guaranteed to make production as a coupé variant of the next-generation Q50 saloon - Infiniti's 3 Series rival. That makes the Q60 a 4 Series challenger.
Sadly Infiniti is being tight-lipped on the mechanical detail front but it has given us a taste of the carbon-fibre and hand-stitched leather interior (which reflects "artistry and tailoring" says Infiniti) and the gorgeous 21-inch alloy wheels, which are supposed to look like jet turbines.
The whole car is painted in a special colour dubbed Arctic Aluminium and the LED headlights are meant to mimic the shape of the human eye, right down to the pupil and the iris.
Will we get it in Ireland?
Probably, but don't hold your breath. Infiniti did have plans to launch here, which were scuppered by the recession, and the bean-counters will be watching the likes of Jaguar and Lexus closely over the next few months to see how established brands perform relative to the German Big Three before making a final decision.
In the meantime, check out a CGI video of the Q60's interior:
