Volkswagen helps to drive Irish rugby

New fleet for the IRFU as Volkswagen extends its sponsorship deal.

What's the news?

Volkswagen Ireland has renewed its official partnership with the Irish Rugby Football Union (IRFU), which has been in place since 2011. As official car supplier, it handed over a fleet of 60 new vehicles including the new Volkswagen Passat recently launched in Ireland. In addition to keeping the IRFU moving, Volkswagen will also carry advertising in match-day programmes and support a number of IRFU players.

Speaking at the official handover, Head of Marketing for Volkswagen Passenger Cars, Paul O'Sullivan, said: "We are very proud to be partners of Irish Rugby. We are delighted to hand over the 151 vehicles including the new Passat, which is proving very popular. We wish the team every success in the year ahead and we look forward to supporting them all the way."

Anything else?

This latest sponsorship agreement, said to be a six-figure sum, follows the recent announcement that the brand has also become title sponsor of the Ray D'Arcy show on RTE Radio 1.
