What's the news?
Struggling American brand, Chrysler, will soon be withdrawn from sale in Ireland.
A combination of poor sales and a disjointed model range that failed to ignite any noticeable interest from the buying public led to the decision. Since 2013, the brand has seen just 43 units registered in Ireland. With models like the 300C and Gran Voyager failing to deliver emissions-friendly offerings and the Fiat 500-derived Ypsilon lacking appeal, the sales figures were unlikely to increase any time soon. These models were sold on mainland Europe badged as Lancias, and with the exception of that brand's home Italian market, they will also be withdrawn from sale.
Anything else?
According to Fiat Chrysler Automobiles' Deputy Managing Director, Karl Howkins, the group plans to invest more heavily into the Jeep brand, which has recently released new Cherokee and Renegade models, and is due to launch a mid-sized Nissan Qashqai rival and large SUV within the next three years. In addition to this, new models from Alfa Romeo and Fiat are expected to help bolster the group's performance in the coming years.
