Hybrid Audi Q7 revealed

Q7 e-tron will debut at Shanghai Motor Show.

What's the news?

The second generation Audi Q7 has only just been introduced but already the Ingolstadt firm has started adding to the engine line up.

Set to debut at the Shanghai Motor Show next week the Q7 e-tron pairs a 2.0-litre TFSI petrol engine and electric motor to offer up a combined 367hp and 700Nm of torque. The disc shaped electric motor, integrated into the eight-speed Tiptronic transmission, provides 126hp and 350Nm by itself and is said to be capable of powering the Q7 on electric power alone for up to 53 kilometres. Total range for the plug-in hybrid is quoted as 1,020 kms.

Anything else?

Unfortunately for Irish buyers the Q7 e-tron will not be coming here; it has been specifically built for petrol loving Asian markets such as China, Singapore and Japan. We will just have to make do with V6 diesel units.
