Ford releases special edition Fiestas

New Red and Black Edition Fiestas get punchier 125hp EcoBoost engine.

What's the news?

Ford has released a pair of specced-up Fiesta special editions, labelled Red Edition and Black Edition.

As you might have guessed, they're colour co-ordinated with chunky body kits in either Race Red or Panther Black and contrasting roof and door mirror colours.

As standard, the models feature black 16-inch alloys; a gloss black centre stack and door handles; black leather sports steering wheel and gear lever gaiter with red stitching; black floor mats with red stitching; and charcoal black sport seats in Ultimate material with contrasting red stitching and bolster exteriors.

There's an updated engine too - a 125hp version of the multi-award-winning three-cylinder EcoBoost 1.0-litre turbo. In spite of 99g/km CO2 emissions, it gets revised ratios for the five-speed manual gearbox and a sports suspension setup. In addition to new shock absorber and spring settings, the sports suspension uses a stiffer rear axle and revised tuning for the Electronic Power Assisted Steering system delivering greater torque build-up for more feedback. You can have them with either standard 16-inch wheels or optional 17-inch ones.

"These two new Fiestas make an unquestionably bold statement on the road and will give drivers an equally distinctive experience behind the wheel with a sportier version of our 1.0-litre EcoBoost and enhancements to the Fiesta's acclaimed ride and handling," said Ciarán McMahon, Chairman and Managing Director, Ford Ireland.
